During a Fox News Channel interview on Sunday, President Donald Trump said the fact that Democratic presidential contender Pete Buttigieg is gay and "married" and that he appears on stage with his "husband," is "absolutely fine -- I do."  He added, "I think it's great" and "I think it's good."

On FNC's The Next Revolution, host Steve Hilton said to Trump, "Don't you think it's just great to see the fact that you've got a guy there [Buttigieg] on the stage with his husband and it's normal?"

Trump replied, "I think it's absolutely fine, I do.

Hilton then said, "Isn't it a sign of great progress in the country?"

The president said, "Yeah, I think it's great. I think that's something that perhaps some people will have a problem with. I have no problem with it whatsoever. I think it’s good.”

Buttigieg, 37, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., is running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. He met his "husband," Chasten Glezman Buttigieg, on the dating app Hinge. Glezman, 29, is a teacher at the Montessori Academy in Mishawaka, Ind.

Although Buttigieg's chances of winning the nomination and the White House seem like a long shot, Marie Claire magazine declares "it would be nothing short of glorious to have a same-sex couple in the White House."
