During an interview on MSNBC's All In with Chris Hayes, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who is a staunch critic of President Donald Trump, claimed that Russians "hacked into the election," that Trump is "entangled" with a "Kremlin clan," and that many people in his cabinet "are a bunch of scumbags."

"It`s clear to me, and I just think the American people had better understand what`s going on," said Waters on the MSNBC on Tuesday evening.  "This is a bunch of scumbags. That`s what they are."

Chris Hayes asked, "Who do you mean when you call them scumbags? Who are you talking to -- about?" Waters then said, "All of these people who are organized with these oil and gas interests that`s in the administration, and friends of the president of the United States."

She continued, "This back-channeling that you see. These are a bunch of scumbags."

Hayes also asked, "You mean the Secretary of State of the United States?"

Waters did not say no, but answered, "Well, I tell you this, [Rex] Tillerson is there to get these sanctions [against Russia] lifted. I believe it. Just watch him. He`s going to continue to work on it. This is important for him. He was there because he negotiated the deal for Exxon with Putin."

At that point the interview ended with Hayes saying, "All right, well that`s going to -- there's going to be a big fight over that, if that happens. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, thanks for your time tonight. I appreciate it."

Scumbag is English slang for a "dirty or despicable person." It also refers to a used condom.
