On his new television show Levin TV on Wednesday, nationally syndicated radio talk show host Mark Levin asked and answered a question similar to the one posed to Donald Trump at a recent CNN Town Hall: “Well, what then are the three top responsibilities, let’s say, of the federal government?”

“Well, what then are the three top responsibilities, let’s say, of the federal government?” asked Mark Levin. “I agree with him [Donald Trump] on one of them – security. National security, national defense, really only the federal government has the wherewithal, you know, to fight wars and to secure the entirety of the United States.”

Below is a transcript of Mark Levin’s comments:

“Well, what then are the three top responsibilities, let’s say, of the federal government? I agree with him [Donald Trump] on one of them – security. National security, national defense, really only the federal government has the wherewithal, you know, to fight wars and to secure the entirety of the United States. One state or another can’t do it on its own. That understood. It’s always been understood.

“Well, what else is the responsibility?

“Well, look at the Constitution. The other two responsibilities, there are many, but two of the most important responsibilities is to secure individual liberty.

“That’s why we have an entire Bill of Rights, to secure individual liberty. That’s why the government is broken into three pieces. That’s why the states are supposed to have plenary power, and the federal government is supposed to have specific power and power’s broken between congress, the courts and presidency.

“So, that’s the second point – individual liberty.

“What’s the third?

“Justice. Order. Order and justice.

“That’s part of the civil society. You can’t have anarchy. You can’t have mobocracy, or the society can’t last. Or we’re just the jungle.

“So, these are the three basic pillars of our society and our governing system.”
