On his nationally syndicated radio talk show Thursday, host Mark Levin discussed the Florida school shooting and suggested that Americans take a stand “for life” – a stand “for life in the womb and life outside the womb.”
“How about standing for life?” asked Mark Levin. “How about standing for life in the womb and life outside the womb? How about protecting our babies in the womb and protecting our babies who go to these government schools? How about we get into the safety, health and protection business? And that’s the point.”
Levin’s comments came on the heels of “predictable calls for stricter gun control Thursday and the predictable demonization of the gun lobby” following a school shooting that saw “at least 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. shortly before school ended on Wednesday.”
Below is a transcript of Mark Levin’s remarks from his show Thursday:
“The answer’s not in Washington. The answer’s not by politicians. The answers are local.
“Now, we love our children. We love our grandchildren. Now what are we going to do about this – outlaw some more guns and outlaw some more gun devices? – which is ridiculous, absolutely absurd.
“And unfortunately – at least partly, tonight – we’re not going to obsess over it, but we have to deal with it now. I refused to discuss this last night. I refused to take callers who wanted to discuss this last night. We’ll discuss it somewhat tonight, what these politicians and media types are pushing with respect to gun control.
“How about standing for life? How about standing for life in the womb and life outside the womb? How about protecting our babies in the womb and protecting our babies who go to these government schools? How about we get into the safety, health and protection business? And that’s the point.
“If we want to protect our children in these public schools, we need to put people in these public schools who can protect our children. It’s not right to leave it to teachers who aren’t trained. It’s not right. They’re human beings too, and their lives are on the line too. This is their profession. They’re not in law enforcement. They don’t know anything about tactical or strategic responses to terrorist attacks, to criminals, to potential mass murderers. That’s not what they know. And why would you expect them to know it?”
