“America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon told a New York City radio station recently that Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest abortion provider – has been committing “real genocide” against blacks.
“Think about all the stuff they did with Planned Parenthood and all of that type of stuff. That’s—that type of stuff is to take our community, and forget gentrification, it’s real genocide, and it’s been like that for years,” Cannon said in an interview on Nov. 17 with “The Breakfast Club” morning show, heard on Power 105.1 in New York City.
Cannon was responding to comments he made regarding blacks voting during the presidential election.
Co-host Charlamagne Tha God accused Cannon of encouraging people not to vote, and Cannon said, he was merely him reflecting what he was hearing from blacks in various cities, who were more concerned with working for a living than participating in the election process.
“So now what I said is that they [Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton] don’t respect our vote, clearly, is what actually happened, and when I wrote ‘Too broke to vote,’ that was a reflection on what people were telling me when I was in these communities, when I was in the Southside of Chicago, when I was in Compton, when I was in Atlanta, and I was talking—trying to encourage people to register to vote, they was like, ‘man, I’m trying to get this check. I ain’t trying to check no ballots,’” Cannon said.
“So I gave that reflection to say that neither Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump was speaking to our community, and that localized voting was more important, especially when dealing with the criminal justice reform, and everything that we’re trying to do to build this education system,” he said.
Co-host Angela Yee said, “But I look at Donald Trump, like they’re saying he’s trying to reverse Roe v. Wade, a lot of different things.”
“But everybody just-- Hillary was sneaking. Think about all the stuff they did with Planned Parenthood and all of that type of stuff. That’s—that type of stuff is to take our community, and forget gentrification, it’s real genocide, and it’s been like that for years,” Cannon said.
