A transgender “man” will appear on the April cover of the German edition of Men’s Health magazine.

As People magazine reports, transgender fitness model Ben Melzer was selected after winning the Men's Health Ultimate Guy cover model contest.

Melzer was born as Yvonne. "I was never a typical girl,” she said in an interview for NowThis. “As soon as I started thinking, pink was a no-go.” Melzer added: "Many ask me, 'Why do you do this, why did you go public and tell your story?' But that's easy to answer. When I was in that situation, I had nobody to talk to, nobody to ask all this questions. That's what I want to do. I want to give the community a face, stand up and answer those questions for people.”

The American edition of Men's Health almost had its first transgender cover model in 2015, when Aydian Dowling entered the cover contest.
