On his talk show Thursday, nationally syndicated radio show host Mark Levin discussed the U.S. Air Force announcing that it will soon be short 700 pilots, saying that “you don’t have to be the world’s policeman, but you shouldn’t be the world’s ostrich either.”

“You don’t have to be the world’s policeman, but you shouldn’t be the world’s ostrich either,” said Mark Levin. “When they [the United State’s enemies] are cutting off shipping lanes in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, where five million dollars – trillion – trillion dollars in commerce goes, as well as our military exercises, claiming the rights to the navigable waters, claiming they control the air space above it.”

In this monologue, Levin was referring to a Wednesday news conference with Air Force Chief of Staff David Goldfein and Secretary Deborah Lee James, where James said that the Air Force expects to soon be short by 700 fighter pilots.

See below for a transcript of Levin’s comments:

“The U.S. Air Force is short on pilots, not just by a little, by a lot. You know how many they’re short? 700, by the end of the year.

“You know what else? They’ll be short a thousand pilots within a few years. And I just read, you know whose military is on red alert right know? The Ukrainian military is on alert, because they fear Russian invasion.

“And so, our enemies, and they are our enemies, our enemies scope out the news and they look at the United States and they steal our intelligence and they see what’s going on and they say:‘All right, grab the South China Sea; grab the East China Sea; grab the countries around Russia. That’s right. Suck in Turkey; suck in Syria; suck in Iran; suck in Egypt. Oh yes, yes, yes.’

“And all of us: ‘Yeah, well, you know what, we can’t, we can’t, you know, we’re not the world’s policeman.’

“You don’t have to be the world’s policeman, but you shouldn’t be the world’s ostrich either. When they’re cutting off shipping lanes in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, where five million dollars – trillion – trillion dollars in commerce goes, as well as our military exercises, claiming the rights to the navigable waters, claiming they control the air space above it, Russia and China now in a military allegiance, and this idiot, where is he? Martha’s Vineyard, hanging out with a lot of white people.

“Hey, hey you remember what Eric Holder said. You gotta discuss race. You can’t, you can’t just, you know, dust it under the rug anymore. Well, I’m discussing it.

“Obama loves to vacation in the whitest of white places. Look, I’m not – obviously, I mean, he can do what he wants – but that’s what he does. Oh yes.

“Well, here we are. The United States Air Force – ‘It is a crisis,’ said General David Goldfein, the Air Force Chief of Staff. ‘Air superiority is not an American birthright. It’s actually something you have to fight for and maintain.’

“What are you telling us about that for, General. I think we know that. Have you resigned as a result of Obama’s policies? Have you resigned as a result of the idiot Ash Carter’s policies at the Defense Department? What are you telling us that for? We can’t do a d--- thing about it.

“He’s cut the Navy; he’s cut the Marines; he’s cut the Army; he’s cutting the Air Force. But food stamps, don’t worry – double, triple, quadruple.”
