On his nationally syndicated radio talk show, Mark Levin asked why Republicans in Congress “time and again persist in assisting an agenda that is both diabolical and destructive?”

“Why did they give Obama the budget he wanted? Why did they stop fighting on unconstitutional executive amnesty? Why did they surrender the treaty provision of the Constitution? Why did they surrender the power of the purse provision of the Constitution? “ Levin asked in his June 10 broadcast.

“And why now do they seek to give this man - this man who is violating our Constitution, this man who is destroying our way of life - fast track authority?”

Here is a transcript of what Levin said:

“But why do the Republicans time and again persist in assisting an agenda that is both diabolical and destructive? Why did they give Obama the budget he wanted? Why did they stop fighting on unconstitutional executive amnesty? Why did they surrender the treaty provision of the Constitution? Why did they surrender the power of the purse provision of the Constitution. And why now do they seek to give this man - this man who is violating our Constitution, this man who is destroying our way of life - fast track authority?

“And then they claim they’re free traders and it helps America! They’re not free traders. This is crony capitalism and corporatism. I’m a free trader. I believe in free market economics. The Republicans in Washington D.C. absolutely do not.

“But even more than all that - and that’s plenty – under our Constitutional system, the framers of our Constitution were heavily influenced by the Enlightenment. They were heavily influenced by men who wrote time and again about the consent of the governed, the will of the people – not about majoritarianism and pluralism and factualism, but about a republic.

“What is a republic? You cannot continue to keep from the people these massive pieces of legislation, these laws under which we’re required to live, under penalty of taxes, under penalty of fines, under penalty of imprisonment, and not allow us an opportunity to even know what is in them. Whether it is Obamacare, whether it’s Dodd Frank, and whether it’s this – fast track.

“Instead, all we get to hear are the bumper sticker arguments, the fortune cookie arguments - of people on TV, of politicians on TV. John Boehner hasn’t even read it. Kevin McCarthy hasn’t even read it, Mitch McConnell hasn’t read it. How is it that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce can support this?  Have they read it? Did somebody show it to them?

“I have rejected this from the outset – not because of the protectionists in Big Labor, not because of the protectionists in the Republican Party.  I have rejected this from the outset because it conveys further power to Barack Obama, who is the enemy of the Constitution and the republican system.

“Why in the hell can’t the Republicans wait 18 months at least? This is not going to create jobs. It’s not going to level any playing field. And we the people, more than anything else – we have a right to know what is in this law!”
