Zombie Nativity Scene May Haunt Through Holidays

For the second year in a row zombies have taken a prominent place in Jasen Dixon’s yard in time for Christmas - catching the attention of local officials.

According to WKRC-TV, Dixon started dressing up Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the three wise men as zombies in a nativity scene in his front yard in Sycamore Township, Ohio last year.

"It was kind of a publicity stunt for my haunted house I run: 13 Rooms of Doom. It worked," Dixon told WKRC.

In 2014, township officials told him to take down the display because he didn’t have a permit.

This year, a day after he submitted the application, he received a letter saying his application was denied because the zoning code doesn't allow an "accessory structure" in a front yard.

Dixon could be fined $500 per day and as of last Friday, he tells WKRC he has already received one $500 fine.

But the battle over the zombie display may now be over. CNN reports the problem was with the roof of the structure on the property.

Dixon took the roof off over the weekend and is now in compliance with township zoning rules meant to regulate sheds and other structures.
