Speaking on CNN Monday presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said, "We have not so much a gun problem – we have a problem with sin and evil.”
Huckabee was responding to a CNN host’s question about how Umpqua Community College shooter Christopher Harper-Mercer was able to “stockpile 13 weapons.”
“Well, he was able to do it because nobody really reported any of the signs. This guy was apparently a loner, he exhibited some traits of behavior an attitudes that were warning signals but nobody acted upon them and he was able to obtain those weapons, some which apparently came from his mother, some that he obtained.” Huckabee said.
“We always talk about what the weapon was, but whether it’s a pressure cooker or whether it’s a gun, we’re dealing with people who are either deranged or they’re very focused because they want to kill people in the name of terrorism. We have not so much a gun problem – we have a problem with sin and evil.”
“This is an evil thing when people kill another person and it happens way too often."
