Wednesday’s fatal Amtrak crash of a train carrying Republican lawmakers could be considered “karma,” Author Stephen King (@StephenKing) tweeted Thursday.

“A trainload of Republicans on their way to a pricey retreat hit by a garbage truck. My friend Russ calls that karma,” King tweeted.

King then tweeted that he was sorry - that the driver of the truck was killed:

“OF COURSE sorry the truck driver died.”

UPDATE: King has, subsequently, tweeted a qualified apology: "I apologize (if one is necessary)."

Additionally, Entertainment Weekly reports, noting that it was not the driver, but a train passenger, who died as a result of the crash.
