At Wednesday’s White House press briefing, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that “The Bible tells us in Psalms that the Lord ‘heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.’”

Sanders said that the “entire administration” is extending their prayers to Mollie Tibbets’ loved ones, mentioned that her killer is an illegal immigrant, then quoted Psalm 147:3 before saying, “we are grieving with” their family.

“Lastly, on behalf of our entire administration, I want to extend prayers to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mollie Tibbetts. The nation has watched for over 30 days as local, state and federal officials have searched for Mollie, a rising sophomore at the University of Iowa,” Sanders said:

“Sadly, the individual believed to be responsible for the murder is an illegal immigrant, making this an unfortunate reminder of why we need to strengthen our immigration laws. The Bible tells us in Psalms that the Lord ‘heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.’ The Tibbetts family is hurting, and they’re on the hearts of all Americans, and we are grieving with them.”

None of the reporters at the press briefing asked about Mollie Tibbetts’ murder or illegal immigration, even though her murderer is in the United States illegally.

Mollie Tibbetts, a 20-year-old college student, was killed by 24-year-old illegal immigrant Cristhian Rivera when she was out jogging last month. Rivera led the police to a cornfield on Tuesday where, presumably, he had dumped her body.
