Money actually can buy happiness, so the government should give it to everyone, billionaire Tesla CEO Elon suggested on Friday.

Criticizing the “self-serving special interests” of government stimulus bills, Musk said that government should maximize citizens’ happiness by giving each one of them money to be spent however he or she sees fit.

In a series of three linked tweets, Musk said that he supports establishing a universal basic income for every citizen, but he’s against the government passing another special interest-laden stimulus package:

“Goal of government should be to maximize the happiness of the people. Giving each person money allows them to decide what meets their needs, rather than the blunt tool of legislation, which creates self-serving special interests.”

“As a reminder, I’m in *favor* of universal basic income”

“Another government stimulus package is not in the best interests of the people imo”
