On Wednesday, former U.S. Attorney Joe DiGenova responded to Sen. Mazie Hirono’s (D-Hawaii) demand that the men of America “Shut up.”
Last week, discussing Christine Blasey Ford‘s hearing sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Sen. Hirono said: “I just want to say to the men of this country: just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.”
Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” DiGenova first condemned Senate Judiciary Committee member Dianne Feinstein for waging a smear campaign against Kavanaugh, after which he responded to Hirono:
“I think that Senator Feinstein (D-Calif.) has set in motion one of the great tragedies in American history.
“She has, purposely, tried to ruin a good man. But, more than that, she has tried to ruin his wife and two daughters. This is a disgraceful performance by the Democratic Party.
“And, let me say this to Mazie Hirono, the Hawaiian senator, Democrat, who told all the men of America to ‘Shut up’:
“Tonight, I say to her: ‘Shut up, Senator. Shut Up.’ I’m sick of you. I’m sick of Dianne Feinstein, I’m sick of Senator Blumenthal – and all the Democrats who have one thing in mind: they want power. They thirst for power, and they don’t care who they ruin in the process.
“This is a moment of disgrace for the United States Senate. And, if they don’t confirm him to the United States Senate, the Republicans will lose the Senate. This is a national disgrace.”
DiGenova concluded by warning that the mistreatment of Judge Kavanaugh harms the entire nation:
“I’m so sick of the Democrats on this committee and what they are doing – and, not just to Judge Kavanaugh, to the country.”
