“The answer is ‘Yes,’” former Vice President Joe Biden replied Thursday when asked at the Democrat presidential debate if he’d be willing to displace “hundreds of thousands of blue-collar workers” to transition the U.S. to a “greener economy.”

Biden said the reason he’d be willing to displace hundreds of thousands of blue collar is that they’d have the opportunity to transition into high-paying green jobs.

For example, Biden said, the U.S. could create “millions of jobs” by installing 550,000 electric vehicle charging stations on the nation’s highways.

“We shouldn't build another new highway in America that doesn't have charging stations on it,” Biden said.
