“I don’t know what’s in the whistleblower report. But, I intend to find out,” House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on September 23, 2019. But, a New York Times story published this week reports that Schiff had, indeed, been briefed on the general content of the whistleblower’s complaint before that time.
Schiff made the claim in a tweet to Rep. McCarthy, including video of an appearance by the minority leader on Fox News:
“Actually Kevin, Mueller's report confirmed that in 2016, the Trump campaign had multiple contacts with Russians, welcomed their help, & then lied to cover it up. See for yourself: http://justice.gov/storage/report.pdf
“I don’t know what's in the whistleblower report.
“But I intend to find out.”
As CNSNews.com has reported, on September 17, Schiff misled MSNBC in an interview, declaring that, “We have not spoken directly with the Whistleblower” – even though, as The Times now reports, Schiff learned of the whistleblower’s claims via a staffer who spoke with the whistleblower.
Remember what Adam Schiff said two years ago—that he had proof, beyond circumstantial, of collusion.— Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) September 23, 2019

The video Rep. Schiff embedded and responded to in his September 23 tweet shows Rep. McCarthy reminding Fox News viewers of how Schiff has, in the past, claimed to have solid evidence, but failed to deliver:
“Remember what Adam Schiff said two years ago: that he had proof, beyond circumstance proof. And, remember what he just put the country through. He put the country through unbelievable pain for something that he didn’t have any truth to. And, he made us go through so much – let’s not make that mistake again.
“Have we not learned from the past? Do we not understand that the Democrats did not like this outcome? Do we not know that Adam Schiff has been proven wrong every time before – and, is he doing this to the country again?”
