Senate Minority Leader Dick Durbin (D.-Ill.) sent out a tweet on Saturday that linked to a New York Times storyreposted by The Morning Call--about a federal prisoner who had died after giving birth.

“Tragedies like this are exactly why we must do more to protect inmates during this pandemic,” Durbin said in his tweet.

The headline on the New York Times story reposted in The Morning Call, which is based in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, said: “Prisoner with coronavirus dies after giving birth while on a ventilator.”

“The first female federal prisoner to die after contracting the coronavirus was a 30-year-old mother who had just weeks earlier given birth while on a ventilator,” said the first paragraph of the story.
