In another violent weekend in Chicago, 4 people were killed and 21 wounded in shootings. The majority of the homicides in Chicago are the result of gun volence, according to the Chicago Tribune, and the "majority of the victims of homicide in Chicago are young, black men."
The Chicago Sun-Times reported on Monday, 27-year-old Bryone Dupart was found dead in the street on Chicago's South Side on Friday evening. "He had suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said."
On Sunday, a 36-year-old man, Duante Manuel, was shot to death in Humboldt Park on the Northwest Side, reported The Sun-Times. He was sitting in a car "when the gunman approached him on foot and fired shots," hitting him in the head and body.
Late on Saturday, a 30-year-old woman sitting in a car was shot in the head and body; she was pronounced dead at the Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Sixty-two-year-old Benjamin Barber was shot and killed while standing on the sidewalk Saturday morning. He died at Mount Sinai Hospital.
A 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting early Monday morning on the South Side.
"Also Saturday, another 16-year-old boy was shot in Little Village on the Southwest Side," reported The Sun-Times. "About 5:10 p.m., he was standing in the 3300 block of West 28th Street, when a vehicle approached, two people got out and fired shots, police said. He was struck in both legs, the hand, and rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition."
At least 19 other people were wounded in shootings, said The Sun-Times and, last weekend, 27 people were shot, five fatally.
