"The deadliest mass shooting in modern American history." That was the summary of the horrific end to the country music festival on the Las Vegas strip, with 59 people killed (as we file this) and more than 500 injured. The early network reports were all news, but everyone knew what would follow immediately: an avalanche of liberal anger that gun control wasn't installed to prevent this from happening.

The fall premieres have begun on prime-time TV, and just when you thought we couldn't sink lower into the cesspool, there are new "milestones" for the liberal cultural commissars to honor. The Daily Beast reported with great pride that the Amazon show "Transparent" will have TV's first transgender full-frontal nude shot, during a massage scene: "When he tweaks her back, she rolls over, exposing her breasts and, for the first time for a transgender actress on television, her penis."

The national media remain obsessed over President Trump's tweets, especially when they can be interpreted as racially inflammatory. Liberal sports journalists spent the summer hoping and wondering when the original national anthem kneeler, Colin Kaepernick, was going to get another quarterback job in the NFL. It never happened, so some (predictably) saw Racist America at work, punishing Kaepernick for his courageous stance (or kneel).

This show could not have been more predictable, quickly devolving into a boorish hourslong festival of Trump bashing and Hillary mourning.

Of all the ridiculous excuses Hillary Clinton could possibly make on her book tour to explain why she couldn't win the 2016 presidential election, the most ridiculous has to be that the national media favored Donald Trump.

The news media will be left with two options when this movie comes out: They can ignore it, or, if it's too successful to ignore, they can denounce the filmmakers and attempt to shame them.

"Sunday Morning" host Jane Pauley softly and sweetly served one puffball after another to Hillary Clinton for her book-tour kickoff. That evening, anchor Charlie Rose harshly lectured President Trump's former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, on "60 Minutes."

Antifa thugs have repeatedly beaten or threatened journalists and regular citizens on the street who dare to capture them on tape. Why, then, must they not be "vilified"?

To liberal elites, all Texans are somehow bigoted white Christian males.

No one could plausibly argue that the media was nicer to Trump than they were to Hillary Clinton, or that they treated his policy proposals with more respect.

ESPN has been working hard for several years to establish itself as just another sermonizing member of the liberal media, most audaciously by hailing "Caitlyn" Jenner with an award for "courage" in 2015 for facing down such tortures as the disrespectful use of "incorrect pronouns." Soldiers who lost their lives in combat hadn't a fraction of Jenner's bravery, according to their judgment.

The NBC referees believe rioting is worth at least some respect as a way to jolt the debate to the left.

The National Football League's preseason is underway, and national anthem-hating quarterback Colin Kaepernick still doesn't have an NFL job. One can easily identify the liberal journalists by their anguish over this so-called injustice.

Eight years ago, CNN conducted a National Report Card, and in addition to grading the politicians, it asked the public to give a grade to the news media. It surely winced at the results.

The world of television and how Hollywood delivers it keeps changing. Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon have become prestigious brands whose original programming draws a pile of Emmy nominations. In 2017, Netflix has received 91 Emmy nominations, second only to HBO's 111. Hulu has 18 nominations, and Amazon has 16, just a few less than Fox's 21.

CNN reporter Jim Acosta pitched another fit in the White House briefing room on Aug. 2, asserting that President Trump's immigration policy was refuted by a poem engraved on a plaque on the Statue of Liberty. Trump aide Stephen Miller fought him tooth and nail, slamming him for a "cosmopolitan bias." There was no doubt that the liberal elites would sympathize with the acidic Acosta.

The website Deadline reports that there are not one but two movie projects attempting to glorify an underground abortion collective in Chicago that operated in the four years before the 1973 Roe v. Wade court decision legalizing abortion.
