(CNSNews.com) - Vice President Kamala Harris indicated on Monday that the only solution to the U.S. border crisis is the Democrat solution -- a "pathway to citizenship."
She blamed Republicans for "dereliction of duty," even though President Joe Biden assigned Harris the duty of stemming migration to our southern border.
Since Biden's announcement in March 2021, Harris has not even seen the overrun border first-hand. (El Paso, the border city she did visit, was not representative of the crisis unfolding in the Rio Grande Valley at that time.)
Harris and Biden have largely ignored the immigration crisis altogether, as we end a record-breaking year for "encounters" of illegal immigrants (see chart below).

On Monday, Seth Meyers, host of NBC's "Late Night" show, told Harris, "I don't think that, you know, playing games with people's lives is the solution to this problem. But based on the record amount of arrests at the border, it is a problem. I think we look to our leaders at times like these. What is the path forward?" Meyers asked Harris.
"Well, let's start with the first point that you made," Harris said, referring to the busloads of illegal border-crossers being dropped off outside her official residence in Washington.
"I mean, we're talking about people who have fled great harm," Harris said.
"And they're coming here, seeking refuge. And talk about political theater, I mean, playing games with people's lives -- with their lives. You know, there are mothers with sleeping babies getting off those buses. And I just think it's an absolute dereliction of duty if you see a problem and if we agree that -- that we need to address it, then if you're a leader, participate in a solution, right?
"When we first came in office, the first bill that we proposed was for a pathway for citizenship -- was to fix a broken immigration system, which was broken under the previous administration. Participate in the solution, because we are offering solutions. But instead, this gamesmanship with real human beings who trust us."
"It's very haunting to watch human beings being used," Meyers said, before changing the subject.
There's no record of Harris meeting, or even greeting, the migrants -- moms and sleeping babies -- dropped off at her doorstep.
