Trump: "The 'Constitutional Crisis' Is the Democrats Refusing to Work"

( - In a flurry of tweets on Sunday, President Trump accused congressional Democrats of "acting like crazed lunatics ever since the results of the Mueller Report were made public."

Some of those Democrats, including President Trump's most determined political enemies, appeared on the Sunday talk shows to blast the president for refusing to cooperate with numerous Democrat-led investigations.

Republicans call it harassment.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), appearing on ABC's "This Week," even suggested President Trump is "trying" to get himself impeached in a "perverse" effort to further divide the country.

Trump fired back in his preferred way, tweeting:

The Democrats new and pathetically untrue sound bite is that we are in a “Constitutional Crisis.” They and their partner, the Fake News Media, are all told to say this as loud and as often as possible. They are a sad JOKE! We may have the strongest Economy in our history, best...

....employment numbers ever, low taxes & regulations, a rebuilt military & V.A., many great new judges, & so much more. But we have had a giant SCAM perpetrated upon our nation, a Witch Hunt, a Treasonous Hoax. That is the Constitutional Crisis & hopefully guilty people will pay!

Despite two years and millions of dollars spent, the Democrats are acting like crazed lunatics ever since the results of the Mueller Report were made public. But they knew there was NOTHING even before the Report was started. It is all a big Hoax, the biggest in American history!

Ever since the Mueller Report showed No Collusion & No Obstruction, the Dems have been working overtime to damage me and the Republican Party by issuing over 80 demands for documents and testimonies, and with NO REASON. That’s all they want to do - don’t care about anything else!

When the Mueller Report came out showing NO Collusion with Russia (of course), it was supposed to be over, back to work for the people. But the Dems have gone “nuts,” and it has actually gotten worse! Hope the Republicans win back the House in 2020, or little will get done!

The “Constitutional Crisis” is the Democrats refusing to work. Let them start by fixing the mess that their Immigration Laws have caused at the Southern Border.

Trump also quoted some of his favorite media supporters, Lou Dobbs and Tom Fitton:

“Even Director James Clapper admits that the FBI actions against the Trump Presidential Campaign do in fact meet the definition of spying, perhaps FBI Director Christopher Wray will be the next to do so.” @LouDobbs

“Just another abuse of power in a long series of abuses of power by the Democrats that began during the Obama Administration, continued through the Mueller FBI operation, & now the baton has been passed to Jerry Nadler to continue to abuse power to harass President Trump and the Democrat National Committee-The Democrat Party apparatus-has been caught using donor Dollars to Collude with Russian Intelligence to attack a domestic political opponent (me). The FBI has no leadership. The Director is protecting the same gang...that tried to...overthrow the President through an illegal coup.” (Recommended by previous DOJ) @TomFitton

Rep. Schiff told ABC's George Stephaopoulos on Sunday that Democrats will impose fines and use the courts "to enforce our ability to do oversight."

Schiff also said the "first priority" is to hear from Special Counsel Robert Mueller:

"I am convinced it's going to happen," Schiff said.

The American people have every right to hear what the man who did the investigation has to say and we now know we certainly can't rely on the attorney general who misrepresented his conclusions. So he is going to testify. And yes, it's certainly true that these additional acts of obstruction, a president having obstructed the Justice Department investigation, now obstructing Congress, does add weight to impeachment. But you know, part of our reluctance is we are already a bitterly divided country and an impeachment process will divide us further.

Once we get started, it's like pushing a boulder off the side of a cliff, it gathers a certain momentum of its own until it hits rock bottom, which is the Senate. And then we're like Sisyphus trying to push that boulder back up the hill. But he may get us there. He certainly seems to be trying and maybe this is his perverse way of dividing us more, and as you heard in the clip earlier, he thinks that's to his political advantage but it's certainly not to the country's advantage.

Also appearing on ABC's "This Week," Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) called Schiff a "hypocrite."

"He's a hypocrite. You know, he was against -- he was all for President Obama using executive privilege and now he's against this president," Paul said:

The bottom line is, we spent $35 million investigating the president, their conclusion was there was no underlying crime. This whole kibitzing about, oh, well, maybe he obstructed justice to try to hide an investigation about something he didn't do.

This is absurd and the American people know it, people have gone to their corners on it, but it's important to remember that this was politically motivated from the very beginning from a political document, from the Hillary Clinton campaign, and that should be investigated because we cannot allow the incumbent parties to weaponize the intelligence communities to spy on Americans or on political candidates or potentially their donors.

So there is a real danger to this and it is a constitutional one, but the Democrats have it completely upside down.
