(CNS News) -- Singer, actress, and long-time leftist Bette Midler denounced President Donald Trump as a "parasite, a leech," and went so far as to smear him as the "Anti-Christ" on Twitter.  She also derided his supporters as being "covered in shame."

In a Nov. 2 retweet reply, Midler wrote, "#DonaldTrump is a parasite; a leech. He robs the poor & gives to the rich; he's a poison running through the veins of our nation, killing anything wholesome or clean, or anyone trying to do good."

"He actually IS the AntiChrist," said Midler. "Anyone supporting him is covered in shame."

Midler's retweet/reply was in response to a Nov. 1 tweet by Holly Figueroa O'Reilly, who also denigrated the president.

Midler, 74, has been honored many times over for her work on stage, in films, and in music. She was nominated twice for an Academy Award (Best Actress), and she won four Golden Globe awards. She also won three Grammy Awards.
