(CNSNews.com) – President Donald Trump said Friday that Democrats want to disarm law-abiding Americans and let criminal illegal aliens “operate with impunity.”
In a speech at the NRA’s annual Legislative Action Leadership Forum in Indianapolis, the president said Democrats are trying to ban new guns and confiscate existing guns from law-abiding citizens.
“In recent days, leading Democrats proposed banning new guns and confiscating existing guns from law-abiding citizens. What they don’t tell you is the bad guys aren’t giving up their guns, and you’re not going to be giving up your guns either. At the same time, House Democrats recently voted against notifying ICE – these brave, great, talented, brilliant patriots – when an illegal alien attempts to buy a gun, which is a felony,” he said.
As CNSNews.com previously reported, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) tweeted about House Democrats refusing to back an amendment to the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 (H.R. 8) offered by Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.).
“Democrats also support sanctuary cities that release thousands of dangerous criminal aliens onto our streets. In fact, they like the criminal aliens and aliens so much that when we’re forced to release them into our country because of the horrible immigration laws that the Democrats refuse to give us the votes. We need some of their votes to change. We give them as many as they can handle, and they’re not too happy about it, folks,” Trump said in his speech to the NRA.
As CNSNews.com previously reported, Trump tweeted on April 12 that he was “giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only” because Democrats aren’t willing to change the immigration laws.
“They said only Trump can come up with that idea. In other words, Democrats want to disarm law-abiding Americans while allowing criminal aliens to operate with impunity, but that will never happen as long as I’m your president. Not even close. I promise to defend the 2nd Amendment rights of every American, and I always will. I’ll never let you down,” he said. “As the famous saying goes, when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
The president also projected that over 400 miles of the border wall will be built by the end of the year despite Democratic efforts to block it.
