(CNSNews.com) - Arizona GOP Senate candidate Blake Masters promised Tuesday to grind President Biden’s agenda to a halt until he secures the southern border.
“We bear the blunt of this crisis, but the reality is Joe Biden and Mark Kelly and their open borders policies, they've turned every county, not just in Arizona, but every county in America, into a border county,” Masters told Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria Bartiromo.”
“These 4 and a half million illegal aliens who Joe Biden and Mark Kelly have welcomed into our country illegally, in the last 20 months, they’re not just coming from Mexico. They’re coming from 140 different countries, right - Yemen, Bangladesh. I mean, I think over 100 have been caught and on the terror watchlist. So imagine all the terrorists who haven’t been caught,” he said.
“It’s a humanitarian disaster. Crime is increasing. Fentanyl is coming through, and what really breaks my heart which just makes me disappointed in Mark Kelly is it’s not like Biden and Mark Kelly and the Democrats have been trying to secure the border but failing. You know that would be bad enough if they were trying but failing. They’re not even trying,” Masters said.
“They surrendered our sovereignty to the Mexican drug cartels. That is enough reason alone for people to get to the polls today and vote these people out of office,” he said.
Masters said that the GOP plans to “bear hug” Biden’s administration and send them a message that nothing gets through unless he actually secures the border.
When asked what he plans to do to stop the flow of fentanyl through the southern border, the congressman said, “Well, by taking back Congress, right. We are going to send Biden a message. We’re going to bear hug his whole administration. I’m going to grind his agenda to a halt unless and until we get border security.
“I’m not going to vote for a thing, not a single thing, not a continuing resolution, not a single appointee unless Joe Biden actually does something to secure our border. That’s the leverage that one senator has. It’s the leverage that Mark Kelly has had for the last 20 months. Remember we had a 50-50 Senate,” Masters said.
“Joe Biden needed Mark Kelly's vote to accomplish absolutely anything and everything, and Mark Kelly refused to dig his heels in, and stand up for the people of Arizona, so I’ll do all I can at the federal level, although we also got to send senators and congressman to D.C. who understand the 9th and 10th Amendments,” he said.
“I’m going to help push power back from D.C. back to the states, back to Arizona,and I’ll do everything in my federal perch to help Governor Kari Lake secure the border at the state level tag team,” Masters added.
When asked whether he supports Mitch McConnell for Senate leadership, Masters said, “We’ll see if there’s a challenge or not, but I’ve called for new leadership. I think we need new leadership. I don't think he liked it when I said that. So be it. I work for the people of Arizona not for anybody in D.C.”
