NY grand jury indicts former President Trump
(CNSNews.com) -- When asked about the Constitution and President Trump’s authority to enforce immigration statutes, Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) said Trump has “the constitutional duty to enforce all laws, including immigration laws.”
At the U.S. Capitol, CNSNews.com asked Congressman Harris, “Article 2, Section 3 of the Constitution says the president ‘shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.’ Does the president have a constitutional duty to enforce the immigration laws?”
Rep. Harris replied, “Look, the president and the executive branch have the constitutional duty to enforce all laws, including immigration laws.”
“Of course, immigration laws specially afforded to the administration, special powers to the administration,” he said. “And I think the court has recognized those special powers over the years.”
On June 20, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost said in written testimonybefore Congress that more than 593,000 people were apprehended at points of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border. She added there were more than 100,000 documented cases of people successfully crossing the border illegally.
Analysts from Yale University and MIT released a study in September 2018 on illegal immigration. “Using mathematical modeling on a range of demographic and immigration operations data, the researchers estimate there are 22.1 million undocumented immigrants in the United States,” reported Yale Insights.
