(CNSNews.com) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) issued a statement on Thursday applauding the “executive actions” that President Joe Biden took on Thursday, which included instructing the heads of federal departments and agencies to “ensure that United States diplomacy and foreign assistance promote and protect the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons everywhere."

“President Biden’s Executive Actions send a powerful message to our allies and adversaries alike: ‘America is back,’” said Pelosi.

“These important steps restore a foreign policy based on America’s values and interests, ensuring that human rights–specifically the protection of LGBTQ communities, refugees and other vulnerable populations – are once more front-and-center of our national security agenda,” she said.

“President Biden’s Executive Actions send a powerful message to our allies and adversaries alike: ‘America is back.’

“These important steps restore a foreign policy based on America’s values and interests, ensuring that human rights – specifically the protection of LGBTQ communities, refugees and other vulnerable populations – are once more front-and-center of our national security agenda.  Vitally, these actions invest in a modern, inclusive and professional national security workforce that looks like America and that will advance our leadership in the world, while working with our partners.

“The Democratic Congress is proud to work with President Biden to reverse the rashness and recklessness of the Trump years and to Build Back Better: returning sanity and strategy to our national security policy so that we can advance stability, peace and prosperity worldwide.”
