Ilhan Omar Celebrates Roe v. Wade by Calling for Federally Funded Abortion: ‘Abortion is Health Care’

( - Rep. Ilhan Omar (D.-Minn.) celebrated the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade—the Supreme Court decision that said abortion is a right—by calling for federal funding of abortion, declaring that “abortion is health care,” and referring to a place she called “Saudi America.”

She did this in two tweets that she sent out on Tuesday. The first condemned the killing of children in Yemen—and criticized Trump for not acting to protect children there.

The second celebrated abortion here and called for abolition of the Hyde amendment that prohibits federal funding of abortion through Medicaid.


“Saudi Arabia is killing children in Yemen, murdering their own journalists, and now hacking Americans phones,” she said in the first tweet on Jan. 22.

“It’s time for the president to stop coddling brutal authoritarian regimes like Saudi America,” she said.

“It’s time for us to lead with our values,” she said.

The second tweet resent a Planned Parenthood Action tweet that called for overturning the Hyde Amendment.

“Abortion is healthcare,” Omar said.

“I stand ith @PPact: We must #BeBoldEndHyde so that no one is denied their constitutional right to choose simply because they cannot afford healthcare.”
