(CNSNews.com)—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that President Trump has done a lot of “terrible” things when it comes to the environment and that the individuals in his cabinet are the “henchmen of the polluters.”
At a Capitol Hill press conference, a reporter attempted to ask Pelosi a question, saying, “The president today is going to be talking about how his administration has been rolling back regulation over the past four years and helping Americans rise out of poverty, he’s doing that from the White House today…”
Before he could get to his question, Pelosi interrupted and said she didn’t know what the president was doing today, but what he did last week in terms of Richard Nixon’s National Environmental Policy Act would negatively affect the environment and the health of the people in the United States.
“Oh, some of the—shall we say, polluters, were saluting it, but it was the wrong thing to do,” Pelosi said.
“So, I don’t know what specific danger to the environment or the health and well-being of America’s families and workers he’s considering today,” she continued, “but if it is anything like what he has been doing, that’s most unfortunate.”
Pelosi said the president has done a lot of “bad things,” saying that his administration puts “methane or mercury” into the environment “once or twice a week, terrible things that have an impact on the health and well-being of the American people.”
She added that instead of the media covering “the danger that he is proposing to our country,” they were choosing to cover the president with “beans on his desk,” referring to Trump’s support of Goya Foods in the face a boycott by liberals upset over the CEO’s support of the president.
“And his administration. He has the henchmen of the polluters in his cabinet, always has, and he’s implementing an agenda that he’s going to ‘rise the poor people from poverty’ by making them breathe foul air. I don’t get it,” Pelosi said.
