(CNSNews.com) - Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle reportedly are buying a $14.8 million mansion on Martha's Vineyard, the family's favorite summer vacation spot.
It just goes to show how little the liberal elite actually worry about climate change, conservative pundit Dinesh D'Souza told Fox News's Laura Ingraham on Tuesday night:
Now the funny thing about the mansion in Martha's Vineyard, I think it is that it really exposes the hollow rhetoric behind all this climate change. It shows that Obama himself knows it's nonsense because if he believed a word of it, if he thought the oceans were going to rise and his property was going to go underwater, he would not have made the investment.
And property values would have plunged. So the buyers know it's not true, the sellers know it's not true, the real estate agents know it's not true -- nobody believes a word of it. So this climate change stuff has become a never-never land of rhetoric, and you see that even Obama's actions cannot be in sync with that.
In his first address to the United Nations as president in 2009, Obama warned:
No nation, however large or small, wealthy or poor, can escape the impact of climate change. Rising sea levels threaten every coastline.More powerful storms and floods threaten every continent. More frequent droughts and crop failures breed hunger and conflict in places where hunger and conflict already thrive. On shrinking islands, families are already being forced to flee their homes as climate refugees.
The Obamas have become extremely wealthy since leaving the White House, with speaking fees, book deals and Netflix deals helping to skyrocket their wealth to an estimated $40 million -- and rising -- according to Celebrity Net Worth. Barack also gets a $200,000 annual pension as a former president.
In 2009, the Obamas reported an adjusted gross income of $ 5,505,409, in large part due to income from Obama's books.
