(CNSNews.com) - Hours after an angry Joe Biden "shushed" one of his female minders and told a union worker in Michigan "you're full of sh**," Biden preached a message of unity and "dignity" in Philadelphia Tuesday night.
"Tonight we are a step closer to restoring decency, dignity and honor to the White House," Biden said, as he headed for a major victory in Tuesday's primaries.
Standing with his wife Jill, Biden said, with so much "fear" in the country and around the world, "We need American leadership. We need presidential leadership that's honest, that's trusted, truthful and steady. Reassuring leadership. If I'm given the honor of becoming your president, I promise you, I'll strive to give the nation that very leadership, every day."
Hours earlier, at a campaign stop in a Detroit automobile factory, Biden got into a heated argument with a union worker, who told Biden: "I'd like you to explain how you plan to not only keep us working, but how you intend to get the union vote when there's a large portion of the union workers that are gun enthusiasts, and you are actively trying to dimish our Second Amendment right and take away our guns."
"You're full of shit," Biden told the man.
Biden then hushed a woman, apparently one of his aides: "Shush. Shush," he told her, when she tried to divert the candidate.
"I support the Second Amendment," Biden insisted. "The Second Amendment, just like right now, if you yell 'fire,' that's not free speech," Biden said. "And from the very beginning -- I have a shotgun, I have a 20-gauge, a 12-gauge; my sons hunt. Guess what? You're not allowed to own ANY weapon; I'm not taking your gun away at all. You need 100 rounds?"
The union worker told Biden, "When you were with Beto, you said you were going to take our guns."
"I did not say that!" Biden shot back "That's not -- I did not say that!"
"It's a viral video," the union worker said.
“It's a viral video, like the other ones they're putting out that are simply a lie," Biden said.
“It shows your voice, you said that you're taking guns away," the worker said.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait -- take your AR 14s away," Biden told the man, pointing his finger in the man's face.
"OK, this is not okay, all right" the worker said, putting his hand up as a shield against Biden's pointed index finger.
"Don't tell me that (unless?) you want to go outside with me,” Biden fumed.
"Hey, you're working for me, man," the worker told Biden.
"I'm not working—” Biden started to say.
"You're pushing up on me," the man said.
"Give me a break, don't be such a horse's ass," Biden replied. "Look, here's the deal. Here’s the deal. Are you able to own a machine gun?" Biden asked the man.
The union worker told Biden, "Machine guns are illegal.
"That's right!" Biden says. "So are AR-15s illegal."
"How is that a machine gun? It's a semi-automatic," the union worker said.
"Yeah, do you need a hundred rounds? Do you need a hundred rounds?" Biden shouted at the man.
As other employees tried to break up the argument, the union worker told Biden, "There are more deaths in America with handguns than there are with what you call assault rifles. Why are you advocating for assault rifles when people are dying by handguns?"
But Biden was ushered in another direction and did not respond.
Noted: In an August 5, 2019 interview with Anderson Cooper, Biden did indicate he would make “assault weapons” illegal:
“So to gun owners out there who say, well, a Biden administration means they're coming for my guns?” Cooper asked Biden.
“Bingo, you're right, if you have an assault weapon,” Biden responded. “The fact of the matter is, they should be illegal, period.”
