(CNSNews.com) – In a Mar. 15 email to his supporters, House Rep. Chip Roy (R-Tex.) endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) for the 2024 presidential election, even though DeSantis has not declared he is running.
The email addressed many of the issues facing the conservative movement and how DeSantis has combatted them. “It’s time for Ron DeSantis to be President of the United States,” said Congressman Roy.
“The next President of the United States must be a vibrant and energetic leader with the faith, vision, and courage to chart a new course,” said Roy. “America needs a leader who will truly defend her and empower the people against the destructive force of unrestrained government and corporate excess, profligate spending, and woke cultural indoctrination.”

Roy believes that the person to face these challenges “is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.” He states that DeSantis is “a man of conviction -- a man who puts his faith in God first as a dedicated husband and father,” a man who “loves America unapologetically but loves freedom and the rule of law even more, with the courage to fight for both.”
Although DeSantis has not declared his run for the presidency, speculation abounds that if he is to announce, it will be after Florida’s regular legislative session. Roy is the first Republican House member to publicly express his decision to back DeSantis.
Congressman Roy highlights multiple achievements that DeSantis has accomplished during his tenure as governor. He notes DeSantis’s “firm rejection of the devastating COVID mandates,” and how “he stared down woke corporate America and higher education.” He also says that DeSantis “stood with Texas in defense of our border.”

Furthermore, Roy describes DeSantis’s style of government as “no-nonsense” and that he has a “fearless rejection of woke ‘conventional wisdom.’”
Roy concluded his email by writing, “I believe it’s time for a new generation of leadership. It’s time for younger, but proven, leadership to offer America eight solid years of transformational change. It’s time for Ron DeSantis to be President of the United States.”
The 2024 White House run is ramping up for Republicans, as former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy have declared their intention of obtaining the party’s nomination.
Trump is currently leading the polls with an undeclared DeSantis not too far behind him. Trump has publicly stated that he believes DeSantis would “probably” be his toughest opponent, but that “I think that we’re not going to have much of a challenge.”

Recently, DeSantis has begun traveling to different states across the country, speaking about his political actions and how they have propelled Florida. Questions have arisen that DeSantis is running a “shadow presidential campaign,” and a Trump-aligned political action group filed a complaint to Florida’s Commission on Ethics claiming he is violating Florida laws.
Commenting on those allegations, Ken Cuccinelli, founder of the Never Back Down PAC, said, "The President Trump I knew would never have played these types of establishment games. I'm shocked, but not surprised. During my tenure as Attorney General of Virginia, I saw complaints all the time and I can tell when spaghetti is just thrown at the wall. The overwhelming response we've received to building a DeSantis grassroots effort is exciting -- and I'm sure intimidating. No wonder the folks on that campaign are nervous. They should be."
