US, Russia At Odds Over Assad’s Planned ‘Election’

Russia and the U.S. differed Tuesday over Syrian President Bashar Assad’s plans for an election next month, with the White House saying they “represent a sham democratically.” Meanwhile the U.N. Security Council is as divided as ever overy Syria, with Russia and France putting forward rival resolutions.
