(CNSNews.com) – Using Rush Limbaugh’s name as a way to prod liberals, MoveOn.org’s political action arm is urging its supporters to call their senators and tell them to pass President Obama’s stimulus plan.
MoveOn.org’s email message, sent Tuesday, begins this way: “President Obama has a plan to create or save 3 million jobs. But did you hear what Rush Limbaugh said? ‘I hope he fails.’”
As CNSNews.com has previously reported, Limbaugh’s “I hope he fails” comment has been taken out of context by several liberal groups, and that now includes MoveOn.org.
Limbaugh, on his Jan. 16 radio show, was talking about the U.S. government taking over the private sector when he said he hopes Obama “fails” in the attempt.
MoveOn.org admits that Obama does not have enough votes in the Senate right now to pass the stimulus plan. Critics describe the $900-billion plan as a liberal spending spree that will not stimulate anything except the Democrat Party.
“[S]enators are mostly hearing from folks who oppose Obama's plan,” MoveOn.org said in its message. “The calls are scaring swing-vote senators – even Senate Democrats are saying they may oppose the stimulus.”
Although MoveOn.org admits the stimulus plan is “not perfect,” the group insists the plan will “stimulate the economy immediately.”
”We've got to turn the tide quickly,” the email said.
