(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Barack Obama can be quite an orator when he uses a teleprompter, and now he’s bringing one along on the campaign trail.
On Monday, he used a prompter at two events in Colorado, including an appearance at a rodeo.
On Tuesday morning, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton explained why Obama felt the need to do that:
“Well, as the McCain campaign will tell you -- with Sarah Palin who’s used a teleprompter ever since she got out on the campaign trail…sometimes when you have something that is important that you want to deliver directly to the American people, like Barack Obama did yesterday, and the message that he had about the urgency of the economic crisis that we face and his plan to help strengthen the middle class, you want to make sure that you deliver that in the clearest possible terms, and that’s what Sen. Obama did yesterday,” Burton said.
“So are you just worried that he’s going to make a mistake and you want to make sure that he just reads the script exactly as written?” Fox & Friends anchor Steve Doocey asked Burton.
Burton dodged the question, noting that the Fox News anchors use teleprompters themselves.
But Obama's running for president, they pointed out.
