(CNSNews.com) - "The streets around the White House will fill up with a sea of protestors on August 12," according to a pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel group that's organizing a march on Washington.

The ANSWER Coalition (ANSWER stands for Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) said there has been an "amazing response" to its call for a protest in Lafayette Park, directly across from the White House.

The "national emergency action" is intended to protest "the U.S.-Israeli war against the Palestinian and Lebanese people." (Israel's leaders have made it clear that they are fighting the terrorists who hide among civilians, but that's not the way the protesters see it.)

The ANSWER Coalition said it has been working with its partners in the Arab and Muslim community (the National Council of Arab Americans and the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation) to organize protests around the country since Israel "reinvaded" Gaza. (Israel sent troops into Gaza to stop rocket fire on its communities.)

"Nothing is more critical than for the people of the U.S. to join together in a single large massive showing of opposition to the U.S.-backed slaughter of the Palestinian and Lebanese people," ANSWER says on its website.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is urging its supporters to join the protest.

"A big turnout at the rally will encourage the silent majority in our society to stand up and voice their disapproval of America's short-sighted policy in the Middle East," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad.
