Woman who kidnapped CA girl gets 36 years to life

PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) — The wife of a sex offender who kidnapped and raped a California girl who was held captive 18 years has been sentenced to 36 years to life in prison.

A judge on Thursday imposed the sentence on Nancy Garrido in the case of victim Jaycee Dugard, who was abducted at age 11 and is now 31.

Nancy Garrido was sentenced as part of a plea deal.

Her husband Phillip Garrido pleaded guilty to kidnapping and 13 sexual assault charges, including six counts of rape and seven counts of committing lewd acts captured on video. He sentencing hearing is ongoing.
