SANDY, Utah (AP) — A fire at a Utah refrigeration plant has knocked out power to more than 1,000 customers and forced authorities to evacuate some nearby workers and residents.
Crews responded to the blaze Monday morning at the plant in Sandy, south of Salt Lake City. Authorities say the evacuations were necessary because the burning building contains ammonia.
Hazardous materials crews are at the scene. No injuries have so far been reported.
Rocky Mountain Power reports more than 1,100 customers were without power as of 1 p.m. MST.
