PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A United Arab Emirates naval officer has been acquitted of charges he kept an unpaid servant in his Rhode Island home.

A judge cleared Col. Arif Mohamed Saeed (sy-EED') Mohamed Al-Ali on Friday of fraud in foreign labor contracting. On Tuesday, Al-Ali was cleared of lying to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Federal prosecutors had accused Al-Ali of bringing servant Elizabeth Cabitla Ballesteros to the United States and failing to pay her.

Al-Ali was in Rhode Island to study at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport.
