MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Alex Rodriguez is back in the New York Yankees lineup for the first time in more than a month.

Rodriguez has been out since July 7 because of surgery on his right knee.

After returning to the team on Thursday, Rodriguez worked out for three days to improve his conditioning.

Manager Joe Girardi inserted him into the lineup on Sunday for the series final against the Minnesota Twins.

Rodriguez is hitting cleanup and playing third base.
