Republican-Controlled House Votes to Increase Debt Limit Up to $2.4 Trillion

( - The House of Representatives, controlled by a Republican majority, voted this evening to allow the U.S. Treasury to increase the U.S. debt by up to $2.4 trillion.

The final vote was 269 to 161. More than 65 Republicans voted against the bill, which needed Democratic support to prevail.
