Renaissance portraits on show in Berlin
BERLIN (AP) — Berlin's Bode Museum is presenting a new exhibition of early Italian Renaissance portraits, produced in collaboration with New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and including Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece "Lady with an Ermine."
More than 150 key works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, medallions and busts are going on display in the German capital starting Thursday and running through Nov. 20. The show highlights how portraits evolved from early expressionless profiles to works in which the personalities of people came through.
Museums from around the world are lending their highlights to Berlin, among them the Louvre in Paris, the Uffizi in Florence and London's National Gallery.
The exhibit will travel to New York's Metropolitan Museum after the Berlin exhibit, where it be open from Dec. 19 to March 18.
