Prior abuse report for alleged confined Ga. teen
CANTON, Ga. (AP) — A report says a Georgia couple accused of locking their teenage son in a bedroom for years had previously been investigated for abuse.
A Cherokee County Sheriff's Office report says child welfare officials alerted them to a report about Paul and Sheila Comer in February 2009. The sheriff's office closed the case, considering the report unfounded.
The report says the couple's son claimed his parents made him get on his knees and rest his head against a wall with his hands behind him for hours at a time. The son's name was redacted from the report.
The Comers were arrested last week and accused of abusing their 18-year-old son. He weighed 87 pounds when he was found in Los Angeles. Authorities say his parents put him a bus to the city.
