MIAMI (AP) — Authorities in Miami have shut down a stretch of an expressway as they investigate a possible found explosives in a car.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reports that the Palmetto Expressway was shut down in both directions Friday afternoon. Officials were looking into reports of possible explosives found inside a vehicle under a Miami Gardens overpass. They were reportedly looking at an unoccupied hearse.

The shutdown caused a major traffic backup during rush hour. It wasn't clear how long the expressway would be shut down.
