STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested in the weekend shooting death of a Mississippi State University student in a dormitory.
University police chief Georgia Lindley said 21-year-old Mason Perry Jones of Jackson was arrested Monday on capital murder charges in connection with the death of 21-year-old John Sanderson.
The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested Jones in Memphis on Sunday on an unrelated, outstanding robbery warrant.
Sanderson, a resident of Madison, Miss., was shot late Saturday in a dormitory on campus. Authorities said the shooting appeared to be isolated.
Lindley says the investigation is continuing.
