NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — An American Airlines flight was diverted to Virginia after a male passenger died on board.

WVEC-TV reports the New York-to-Miami flight landed at Norfolk International Airport around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Passengers were taken off the plane while police investigated and it was determined the person died of natural causes.

A woman who answered the telephone at the airport police office early Thursday referred questions to an airport spokesman, who wasn't immediately available for comment.
