(CNSNews.com) - In April 2010, after President Barack Obama had signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, he said: "If you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you.”

CNSNews.com asked Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday whether Obama’s statement was true or false.

Flake asked twice if that was what Obama said and then answered, “Everybody recognizes that was not a true statement.”

The complete exchange between CNSNews.com and Flake follows:

CNSNews.com: After President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act he said that if you like your health plan you can keep it. No one will take it away from you. Is that a true or false statement?

Flake: Is that what he said?

CNSNews.com: Yes, I’ll read you exactly the quote.

Flake: Yeah. Yeah.

CNSNews.com: "If you like your insurance plan you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you." Was that a true or false statement?

Flake: What he said?

CNSNews.com: Yes, that’s exactly what he said.

Flake: Everybody recognizes that was not a true statement.
