NEW YORK (AP) — Police have arrested a man in the killing of an Italian college student found in her Manhattan apartment, and they say he claimed to be possessed.

Thirty-six-year-old Rita Morelli's boyfriend found her body Nov. 23. Police say she had been choked and stabbed. There was no sign of forced entry.

Bakary Camara, of the Bronx, was arrested on a murder charge. Police say they tracked a cryptic 911 call made after her death to him. Police say Camara told them he was possessed by evil spirits. He says he once had a relationship with the victim, but they were no longer together.

It's not clear whether Camara has an attorney, and there was no number provided at his last known address.

Morelli, a Spoltore native, was attending Hunter College and worked as a waitress.
