Newt Gingrich Predicts House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Will Retire
(CNSNews.com) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) predicted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will retire after the midterm elections when John Boehner takes over as Speaker and that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will lose re-election. He also said Reid is to blame for Nevada’s high unemployment rate and amount of foreclosures.
“The Obama, Pelosi, Reid team is a direct threat to America’s future and needs to be defeated,” Gingrich told the conservative Faith and Freedom conference on Friday.
“I think you’re going to see Speaker John Boehner and I think you’re going to see retired former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. I think there’s a very good chance that you’re going to see Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and you’re going to see defeated Harry Reid.”
After predicting that Reid will lose re-election, Gingrich defended his Republican opponent Sharon Angle.
“Let me just say in defense of Sharron Angle, no matter what the left does to smear her, the 14 and a half percent unemployment in Nevada is Harry Reid’s fault. She didn’t kill a single job – he did,” he said.
Reid recently said that Nevada’s high unemployment rate and amount of foreclosures were not his fault.
"You know that I had nothing to do with the massive foreclosures here," Reid said. "You know that I had nothing to do with these unemployment figures."
Gingrich said both are Reid’s fault because he has the “Senate credit card.”
“The housing that is currently under water in terms of mortgages is not Sharron Angle’s fault, Harry Reid followed those policies,” he said.
“The huge debt that had been built up since Harry Reid became Majority Leader is not Sharron Angle’s fault. He’s the guy with the Senate credit card and for him to go home and decide that his future depends on smearing her, tells you how despicable and how desperate this campaign is going to get in the next 54 days.”
