PHILADELPHIA (AP) — There's a new school for mutants in Marvel Comics' new upcoming X-Men series, but the headmaster is not the calming figure who favored dialogue over conflict.

The only influence that Professor X has at the new school for mutants is that he once trained the original X-Men, along with the fabled multinational team that replaced it, including a healthy Canadian now following in his footsteps.

Now the character tasked with teaching mutants to learn not just reading, writing and arithmetic, but also combat skills, too, is Professor Logan, otherwise known as Wolverine.

He makes his debut as headmaster of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning in late October.
