LOS ANGELES (AP) — The new CEO of satellite TV provider Dish Network says more acquisitions are on the horizon as the company puts together a "new video model" to compete with other pay TV operators and video providers like Netflix.
Joe Clayton in a phone interview Thursday compared recent acquisitions of video rental chain Blockbuster and satellite Internet provider Hughes to first pieces of a puzzle that will transform Dish's video delivery business. He said new acquisitions will help fill in the rest.
Clayton 61, was named CEO on Monday and is set to take the reins from the company's majority owner, Charlie Ergen, in June.
Clayton said he will take over day-to-day management of Dish Network Corp. while Ergen focuses on the strategic direction of the company.
